BioHere I am, Katie or Katherine or Kate or Constance, in New Orleans, desperate for a way of keeping everyone I know and don't dislike intensely updated on the happenings of my summer.
Common Ground Collective was started in the wake of Hurricane Katrina as a means of supporting the residents of New Orleans in the long, slow task of rebuilding their towns and lives. I came late to the game, starting only in March of 2006, but fell in love with the city and the people who lived there, as well as with the people of Common Ground, almost as soon as I showed up at St. Mary of the Angel's School, where a number of volunteers are housed and fed.
This is my attempt at recording a summer's worth of volunteer work.
